The winemaker

The history of the Gardet Champagne House

Charles Gardet founded the house that bears his name in Épernay. In 1930, his son Georges decided to settle in Chigny les Roses. He began to develop the Champagne Gardet brand and build on his heritage.

The Champagne Gardet house then passed into the hands of the Prieux family, who still own it today. This family comes from a long line of winegrowers, deeply rooted in the Champagne terroir.

Vinification at the Gardet Champagne House

The House of Champagne Gardet wishes to preserve the best of the heritage and traditions of Champagne viticulture, while taking advantage of the latest technological innovations. The aim is to master to perfection every parameter of the Champagne winemaking method.

The wines of the Gardet Champagne House are produced in compliance with AOC regulations. This guarantees the most environmentally-friendly viticulture possible, to produce the very best wines, while preserving the terroir and its environment.

The wines of Champagne Gardet

The Champagne Gardet house offers wide ranges, divided into 3 families: the Les Traditionnels family, the Les Réserves family and the Prestige family.

Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru

Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru stands as the emblem of the Gardet Champagne house. It is a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Meunier.

The wine is extremely fresh, with fine, perfectly regular bubbles crisscrossing its splendid pale yellow color. The nose is expressive, very fluid and full of fruity notes: grapes, red fruits, including strawberries and raspberries. The texture is fleshy, with a supple, consistent mouthfeel. This is a fruity champagne, always very fresh.

Brut Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru is the perfect aperitif champagne, but also goes well with any meal, including fruit desserts. Lively, powerful and round, it enhances duck aiguillettes with prunes, Iberian ham or pizza with tomato and mozzarella di bufala.

Le Prestige Charles Gardet

Le Prestige Charles Gardet was created as a tribute to the inventor of the champagne house. It is composed of 70% Chardonnay, mainly from the Côte des Blancs "Grand and Premier Cru" regions. 30% Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims "Premier Cru" vineyards completes the blend. Thanks to the absence of malolactic fermentation, this champagne lends itself to long ageing.

Prestige Charles Gardet is pale gold in color, with silver highlights. The nose is frank and expressive, with notes of stewed fruit reminiscent of tarte tatin or apricot tart caramelized with rosemary.

The palate is ample and generous, with a hint of minerality. This is a well-structured wine with aromas of dried fruit, very ripe yellow fruit, and even grapefruit and hazelnut. Prestige Charles Gardet goes well with aperitifs and fish, such as sea bass with salt or grilled Saint Pierre.

Extra Brut Anniversary Cuvée

Extra Brut Cuvée anniversaire 120 ans is a concentrate of the estate's finest vintages. Twelve cuvées from the best years were blended to create this unique champagne in 2015. The result is an intense, fresh champagne with pronounced floral aromas. The cuvée was awarded a gold medal in the Gilbert et Gaillard guide in 2015, a 16/20 rating in the prestigious Gault&Millau the following year and a 17/20 in the Hubert guide in 2017.

In the extra brut collection, Maison Gardet offers a zero dosage champagne made from a blend of 70% Pinot noir and 30% Chardonnay, then vinified with reserve wines and aged on lees for 5 years. This is a cuvée of great purity, with a delicate nose of white flowers, citrus fruit and spicy notes. Enjoy it with shellfish or scallops.
