Frédéric sigonneau, after an initiatory journey that took him as far as spain (dominio de atauta, ribera del duero), returned to touraine in 2004 and three years later founded his own domaine on the remains of the family estate in cravant les coteaux. In 2015, Fred rediscovered the estate's original 8 ha, just waiting to be reawakened. Le domaine de l'r is a viticulture in phase with the elements that compose it: soil, water and... air. The vineyard is managed in the most natural way possible, working the soil and protecting the vines from mildew and powdery mildew with sulfur and copper. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in crates. In the winery, vatting is carried out by gravity in rough cement vats. Pumping over and racking are carried out when the juices and wines require it. Sulfur is used only when necessary... Tasting, which is omnipresent during vinification and ageing, drives decisions. Cabernet franc, the emblematic red grape of the Loire, makes up the entire r vineyard. The vines are an average of 60 years old and grow on the gravel of the right bank of the river vienne, in the heart of the loire.
