The winemaker

The Colmant Brut Reserve is prepared by the traditional method (named after local production 'Cap Classique') based solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The assembled grapes are produced in different valleys of Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Elgin allowing each terroir to express themselves and bring their specific characteristics to the final product, and thus to obtain complex wines and refined This is an unusual story of Jean-Philippe Colmant. The former manufacturer of tombstones of Walloon Brabant has not established in Franschhoek with the intention of making wine, but became winemaker because it was the most natural choice in this idyllic corner of South Africa , acclaimed by all his family in the early 2000s. Colmant Cap Classique & Champagne is now the only South African winery to produce only bubbles. Large champagne lover, Jean-Philippe Colmant chose outset a more premium positioning than the majority of South African sparkling wine. It flows about 45 000 bottles per year, almost exclusively on the local market
