Appellation Burgundy Crémant

The Crémant-de-Bourgogne AOC, sparkling wines to discover

The Crémant-de-Bourgogne appellation produces sparkling wines in more than 300 communes, located in the departments of Yonne, Côtes-d'Or, Saône-et-Loire and Rhône. These wines are made using the traditional Champagne method, which consists of a second fermentation in the bottle.

The majority grape varieties in the AOC are pinot noir and chardonnay, which can be supplemented by gamay, aligoté, melon and sacy. The 2760 hectares of vines are subject to a continental climate, and experience a great diversity of terroirs as they are planted on different Burgundian vineyards. The soils are thus diverse: clay, limestone, chalk, granite, marl...

Tasting the different Crémant-de-Bourgogne wines

The white Crémants-de-Bourgogne are pale golden in colour, and are studded with fine bubbles. The nose reveals parfumes of citrus, white flowers, as well as mineral and brioche notes. The palate is elegant, light, with a slight acidity and a belle aromatic power.

The Blancs de Blancs release scents of white flowers and citrus fruits as well, but also green apple on the nose. After a few years, this crémant offers parfumes of apricot, peach and toast. The palate is characterised by a note of pear, as well as a very pleasant freshness and elegance.

The Blancs de Noirs, on the other hand, are more about red fruits, cherry, blackcurrant and raspberry in particular. The palate is more powerful, long and persistent, with hints of dried fruit, honey and spice.

The Rosés have a nose marked by red fruits, redcurrant in particular. The palate is very delicate, with the red fruits lingering while fresh.

The white Crémants are ideal as an aperitif, with oysters, scallops or snails. The rosé Crémants are rather reserved for the desserts, in particular with fresh desserts with red fruits, or ice creams and sorbets.
