Appellation Côte-de-Beaune

The Côte-de-Beaune AOC, established in a land of viticulture

The Côte-de-Beaune appellation can only be produced in the commune of Beaune, located about 40 kilometres from Dijon. Beaune is considered the capital of Burgundy wines, it is known for its hospices and is also home to a viticultural high school. In short, it is a commune dedicated to vines and wines!

The area of implantation of the AOC represents 30 hectares, located on the highest parcels of the mountain of Beaune, between 300 and 370 meters of altitude. Close to the Premiers Crus, the appellation covers various lieux-dits, such as Dessus des Marconnets, Les Pierres Blanches or Montbatois.

The 30 hectares of vines are shared between pinot noir and chardonnay, the Côte-de-Beaune wines thus exist in white and red. The vineyard is exposed to a semi-continental climate, with oceanic influences, and the plots benefit from a beautiful sunshine. Finally, the soils of the appellation are rather calcareous or marly.

Attributes of Côte-de-Beaune wines

The red wines of the AOC have a ruby robe, complemented by purple highlights. The nose offers parfumes of red fruit, blackcurrant, as well as animal and undergrowth notes. On the palate, these wines offer sublime roundness, they are firm and have a pleasant acidity.

The red Côtes-de-Beaune, thanks to their roundness, will be the companions of choice for red meats, roasted or braised. They also sublimate kebabs, offal, and cheeses such as Camembert or Munster.

The white Côtes-de-Beaune, thanks to their roundness, will be the best companions of red meats, roasted or braised. The white Côte-de-Beaune, made from Chardonnay, reveals a golden coat, lively and intense. The nose is very herbaceous and lemony, which brings a very appreciable freshness. The palate is all smoothness and lightness. The balance between the acidity and the fruit is mastered. There are mineral notes, as well as a nutty finish, very regularly.

These white wines can be enjoyed with poultry in cream sauce, seafood risottos or pasta with lemon. They are the allies of your fish, cooked, raw or even in rillette. For a match with cheese, choose Comté, Gruyère or Beaufort.
