Appellation Rully

The Rully AOC, between pinot noir and chardonnay

The Rully appellation covers 350 hectares, in the communes of Rully and Chagny. It has within it 23 Climats classified as Premier Cru, including Montpalais, Clos Saint Jacques and Chapitre. The pinot noir and chardonnay find in the appellation a terroir that suits them. The chardonnay, which is in the majority, is planted on the heights of the slopes, and the pinot noir is rather on the lower plots.

The vines are subject to a temperate climate with continental influences, which brings them heat in summer, very useful to compensate for the coolness brought by the altitude. The soils of the appellation are also very well adapted to the two grape varieties, the chardonnay is planted on clay-limestone soils and the pinot noir on calcareous soils.

Rully: reds and whites to taste

The white Rully wines have a golden coat. The nose is marked by white flowers, such as acacia, honeysuckle, and hawthorn, accompanied by scents of violet, gunflint, lemon and peach. The palate is very pleasant, fruity, round, fat, with a nice vivacity and a remarkable length. Fish, river or sea, as well as shellfish served hot, form beautiful companions for Rully. We also think of poultry in cream sauce and Comté cheese.

Red Rully wines range in colour from cherry red to dark garnet. The nose offers scents of red and black fruits, liquorice and rose. With time, it develops scents of cooked fruit. The palate is fruity and very structured. This red wine sublimates poultry, offal, but also risottos or pasta with meat.
