Appellation Côtes-de-Nuits-Villages

Discovering the Côte de Nuits-Villages AOC

The appellation extends over two distinct areas within the Côte de Nuit vineyard. The first, located to the north, near Dijon, includes the communes of Fixin and Brochon. In the southern area, the appellation is located in the communes of Comblanchien, Corgoloin and Premeaux-Prissey.

Obtained in 1964, the AOC is 165 hectares strong, 155 of which are reserved for red wines. The grape varieties of the appellation are pinot noir and chardonnay, the flagship grape varieties of Burgundy. The vines thrive in a cool oceanic climate, and experience a wide variety of soils: limestone, silt, and pebbles depending on the parcels.

Tasting the white and red wines of Côte de Nuits-Villages

.
The red wines, the majority in the AOC, are characterised by a purple coat, sometimes garnet. The nose diffuses scents of red fruits, redcurrant, cherry and blackcurrant in particular. Notes of undergrowth, humus, and spices such as cinnamon are frequent. On the palate, the wines are powerful, fat, with good length and melted tannins.

The red Côte de Nuits-Villages are ideal with pâtés and country terrines, but also with red meats, especially beef and lamb, roasted or in sauce. With cheese, this wine prefers cheeses with character such as Epoisses.

The white wines of the appellation have a clear, golden colour. The nose is marked by white flowers, with hawthorn and acacia, as well as plum. After a few years of cellaring, flavours such as pear, quince, fig and sweet spices dominate. The palate is elegant, characterised by a good vivacity.

To accompany this white wine, we bet on snails, grilled fish or fresh goat cheese, comtés and beauforts.
