Appellation Musigny

AOC Musigny, Grand Cru de Bourgogne

The appellation Musigny is located exclusively in the commune of Chambolle-Musigny. Different names of climates can be added on the bottle, however, such as La Combe d'Orveau, Les Musigny or Les Petits Musigny.

The region has known about vines for almost 1000 years, since they were developed thanks to the attention paid to them by the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux, founded in 1098.

Covering barely 10 hectares, the Musigny AOC produces wines in small quantities, their rarity adding to their exceptional character. This is even more true for white wines, to which only 0.66 hectares are devoted in the appellation.

The main grape varieties are pinot noir and chardonnay. They evolve accompanied by an oceanic climate, marked by cool summers and mild winters. The soils are mostly limestone, although there is some red clay depending on the parcels, which gives all their particularity to the wines of the appellartion.

Taste the great wines of Musigny

The red AOC Musigny reveals a beautiful purple robe, intense and brilliant. The nose offers scents of cassis, raspberry, flowers with violet and rosehip. With the years, one will find notes of leather, undergrowth, fur. On the palate, the balance of the tannins is exceptional, and the wine has a beautiful aromatic length.

These red wines should be accompanied by dishes that match their balance. We choose beautiful poultry, game birds, duck or lamb, rather with a roasted or well grilled cooking. Coulommiers and Brie de Meaux will go well with this great wine.

The rare white wines of the appellation see a unique aromatic expression of chardonnay. There are notes of violet, almond, honey and pear. This wine is very concentrated, elegant and with an incredible mineral power.

The white Musigny, if you are lucky enough to have it in your hands, will be wonderful with fine shellfish, lobster, crayfish, lobster.
